THE PROBLEM

Pilates is very expensive

This is true whether you’re a beginner and have just taken your first few classes or you’re an advanced instructor.

For the beginner, it can be tough to wrap your head around Pilates and build momentum. The more study and practice you do, the more quickly you’ll advance. But the problem is, most people don’t have it in their budget for more than one class per week.

For the instructor, consistently going to workshops can cost a small fortune. And they often fall short on providing sufficient value for the price tag.

THE SOLUTION

A free online resource

Oliver discovered Pilates as many do: through injury. But found himself and his calling through his practice.

In 2009, after running a half marathon, Oliver was stricken with tendinitis in one of his knees; which forced him to seek medical attention.

A visit to a physiotherapist opened his eyes to a humbling fact: the muscles surrounding his knees weren’t strong enough to withstand the amount of running he had been doing, so something had to change.

His physiotherapist recommended strength training as a solution; which set Oliver down a new path.

After finding a personal trainer, he began strength training. He loved the feeling of getting stronger, and his tendinitis didn’t return. But injury would strike him once again. This time affecting both of his arms. A direct result of the weights he had been lifting. It was here that Oliver found Pilates, after a friend suggested it to him.

Within a short time of starting Pilates classes, Oliver’s arms were back to normal; which gave him tremendous respect for the fitness system.

After two years of taking classes, he enrolled in the Advanced Teacher Training Program at Pilates from the Centre in North Vancouver, Canada. There he trained under the watchful eyes of Matilda Christensen, Veronica McClurg and Katherine Denham. He completed the 950-hour program in June of 2015—though he logged closer to 1,200 hours.

What started as a recommendation from a caring friend, transformed into a calling: to help people unlock their true physical potential and gain mastery over their body as Oliver had. He believes what Pilates brings to the table is 100% positive. To him, “there’s a kind of magic to it.”
